Gojek is now officially the first startup from Indonesia that has made it to the global decacorn list. Decacorn is a status for technology startups that is valued more than $10 billion or Rp141 trillion. According to a research report from CB Insights in The Global Unicorn Club, Gojek's valuation has exceeded $10 billion, which made its value ranked at 19 globally.
CB Insights also notes Gojek's market share. Gojek has the highest market share among e-commerce services from weekly active users, which is 55% higher than other similar applications in Indonesia. Nila Marita, Chief of Corporate Affairs at Gojek, said, "We just heard the news and we are grateful that an independent organization validated our success without us announcing anything."
Prior to its new achievement, Gojek held the status of unicorn along with 3 other companies which are Tokopedia, Bukalapak, and Traveloka. Unicorn is a status for tech startups with value more than $1 billion or Rp 14 trillion. After being declared as a decacorn, Gojek is now on par with other global-scale ride-hailing peers such as Grab ($11 billion) and Uber ($72 billion).
